Ok, let’s be completely honest and transparent – how many hours have you spent on Pinterest, Tiktok and Instagram looking at different styles / real weddings and LOVING them all? These channels are the perfect place to look for inspiration however it can also start to become overwhelming and confusing.
We have gathered up our top tips on how to pinpoint your own unique style and aesthetic preferences.
The Basics
Before you even go online have a think about this…
When you and your partner think of your style / vision how would you describe it in three words. Colorful? Classic? Extravagant? Relaxed? Warm? Write three options down together and from doing this you can start to see what venues you may look for right down to your wedding stationery. Think of the Season you want to get married in, guest numbers, home vs destination also. By writing this down, it allows you to delve into your styling a little further in terms of what suppliers you may want for your wedding day.
Find Inspiration
Create your mood board on Pinterest. This allows you and your partner to visualise how you want your day to look. Look at your board – what common themes are standing out, bold heus or soft tones? Do you see a particular style throughout – contemporary / classic? We would recommend completing your board and looking at this one week later – remove any images that are not making you feel excited anymore!!
Creating a Pinterest board is a seriously effective tool to share with your chosen suppliers to ensure a cohesive look from start to finish.
Stay true to you
The biggest advice we can give you is don’t try to follow a trend if this isn’t you. Sit down with your partner and think about what you both enjoy doing, your home aesthetics, your favorite food, wine and all these elements will become very clear and can help you define your vision.
Hire a stylist
Once you have an idea on your style it is now time to chat with a stylist who can take your ideas on board and bring them to life. Think of a stylist as the ‘interior designer’ of your wedding. A stylist will take your concept, source & style those elements to create a cohesive visual story across every area of your wedding.
