The holiday season is upon us!! We are busy working behind the scenes prepping and installing for our seasonal clients. We LOVE Christmas and we wanted to share our expert tips to help you decorate your house for the holidays and make this Christmas unforgettable.
Start with a Festive Colour Palette
One of the most effective ways to create a cohesive look for your home is by choosing a colour palette that reflects the holiday spirit while complementing your existing décor. Traditional Christmas colours like red, green, gold, and silver always work beautifully, but you can also explore more modern combinations like white and icy blue, or deep plum and metallics. Once you’ve chosen your colour scheme, carry it throughout your decorations— tree ornaments, wreaths, garlands and table settings. A cohesive colour story makes your space look polished and intentional.
Highlight Your Christmas Tree
Your Christmas tree is often the centrepiece of your holiday décor, so it’s essential to make it shine. Whether you prefer a real tree with the scent of pine filling the room or a beautifully artificial tree, make sure to decorate it thoughtfully.
Firstly, the location is SO important. Start by placing the tree in a central spot—near a window, in the living room, or in a grand entryway where it can be admired by guests. Begin with lights, then layer on ornaments, garlands, tree topper and ribbons.
Create a Cosy Atmosphere with Lighting
Given the average sunset time in Ireland in December is 4.15pm, lighting is everything when it comes to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere during the holidays. String lights, candles, and lanterns can help set the mood and make your home feel inviting. Incorporate fairy lights into wreaths, garlands, and centrepieces, and place pillar candles on the mantel or tables for a soft, flickering glow. You can even use flameless LED candles for safety and convenience without sacrificing ambiance. You can even go one step further and add exterior lighting to enhance your home.
Incorporate Natural Elements
Bringing the outdoors inside is an easy way to add charm to your holiday décor. Consider adding elements like pinecones, holly, sprigs of evergreen, and dried oranges to your arrangements. These natural accents can be used throughout your décor. A little foraging does no harm either and adding fresh greenery, fir branches and eucalyptus into your home will enhance your Christmas décor even further.
Personal Details
Personalised touches are what makes your home feel truly festive. Look into your family traditions i.e. custom stockings, monogrammed napkins on the dinning tables – these can all make a huge impact.
Tablescape Styling
You know we couldn’t leave this one out!! Whether you are hosting Christmas this year or simply want to enjoy a festive brunch with friends layering your tablescape with a tablecloth, China, glassware and adding seasonal blooms and layered candlelight can create a really high end luxurious finish. Last tip, if hosting, don’t forget to bring a personal touch like custom name cards or unique place settings to make your guests feel extra special.
